Christian Rehabilitation Program for Prisoners
Most of the inmates are incarcerated because their self-centered worldview harmed others. We instill the values of the others-centered, altruistic worldview of the Cross-centered Gospel of Jesus Christ, so that these rehabilitated inmates become valuable members of their communities. That these inmates are sentenced to Imprisonment with Hard Labor makes us direct to benefit the socially underprivileged and vulnerable.
School Meal Program
We operate two manufacturing plants in Makande Prison in South Malawi and Kasungu Prison in Central Malawi that produce nutritious meals for children. We provide these meals at no cost to over 70,000 children across 41 elementary schools and 200 childcare facilities to encourage attendance and promote healthy development. All the manufacturing processes are handled by prisoner volunteers at each respective prison and brings our costs down to $0.06 per meal.
One Another Program
Our One-Another Program is a bridge that connects individuals and churches from wealthy nations such as America with churches and community centers in Malawi. Although there are community centers, churches and other places of worship in every city and countryside, many of these institutions do not utilize the human resources to provide outreach programs to meet the needs of the disabled and elderly. We connect those who wish to help to local Malawi churches and community centers and employ the local residents to serve the specific needs of that community. We aid those communities by providing gainful employment to those who wish to work, and provide services to the elderly and disabled.
Briquette Program
Our Briquette Program produces and distributes high quality fuel made from compressing various wild grasses, straws, reeds, rice straws and corn stalks that would otherwise be trash. Only 8 percent of Malawi residents receive electricity, most do not have natural gas coming into their homes and most of Malawi rely on firewood to cook. This problem is not limited only to the countryside but also to large cooking such as hospitals, schools and prisons having trouble securing firewood for meal preparation. This over reliance on firewood exacerbates deforestation and accelerates topsoil loss. Our briquette program seeks to provide a consistent source of fuel that is both environmentally beneficial and convenient to use. Proceeds from the sale of these briquettes go toward the planting of trees to stop the desertification of Malawi.
